DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION, FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENTS AND ITS RESPONSIBILITIES,

Speakers’ office is responsible for Council and Public Participation.

The Speaker is responsible for:

• Chairing council Meeting
• Chairperson of the Rapid Response Team (RRT)
• Ensuring that Council meets at least quarterly.
• Maintaining order during meetings.
• Ensuring compliance in the Council and Council committees with the Code of Conduct of Councillors; and
• Ensuring that Council meetings are conducted in accordance with the rules and orders of the Council.

·        Establishment and capacity building of Ward committees

·        Oversight role of Council Committees Excluding EXCO.

• 12 ANC Cllrs
• 4 EFF Cllrs
• 2 DA Cllrs
• 1 AIC Cllrs
